401(k) (Full-Time & Part-Time)

Team members who were hired prior to August 15, 2011, are 20 1/2 years of age and have completed 6 months of continuous employment (at least 500 hours) with United Supermarkets will be automatically enrolled in the 401(k) Retirement and Savings Plan on the next entry date unless they contact New York Life Retirement Plan Services (NYLRPS).  Team members who were hired after August 15, 2011, are 21 years of age and have completed 1 year of continuous employment (at least 1000 hours) with United Supermarkets will be automatically enrolled in the 401(k) Retirement and Savings Plan on the next entry date unless they contact NYLRPS.  The automatic contribution from your weekly paycheck will equal 1% of your annual compensation.  However, contributions to the plan can be increased up to 80% of your salary or up to the annual maximum allowed by the IRS.  The company match is 40 cents for each $1.00 you contribute up to a maximum of the first 6% of your annual compensation.  Team members who were hired prior to August 15, 2011, are 100% vested in the plan after four or more years of continuous employment (a year is defined as having worked 1000 hours in a 12 month calendar year).  Team members who were hired after August 15, 2011, are 100% vested in the plan after three or more years of continuous employment (a year is defined as having worked 1000 hours in a 12 month calendar year). 

Profit Sharing (Full-Time & Part-Time)

All team members who are 21 years old, have completed one year of continuous employment and have worked 1,000 hours or more in a calendar year, automatically become eligible to participate in the profit sharing plan. To be eligible for a contribution, a participant must work 1,000 hours in the year designated for the contribution and be employed on the last day of the plan year (December 31). Contributions to the plan are paid 100% by the company. Team members who were hired prior to August 15, 2011, are 100% vested in the plan after four or more years of continuous employment (a year is defined as having worked 1000 hours in a 12 month calendar year).  Team members who were hired after August 15, 2011, are 100% vested in the plan after three or more years of continuous employment (a year is defined as having worked 1000 hours in a 12 month calendar year).
